Hindu Maha Sabha Ganapathi immersion

Hindu Maha Sabha Ganapathi  immersion-Shimoga

The Famous Hindu Maha Sabha Ganapathi Of Shimoga, has its own History. The procession preceding the immersion of the Hindu Mahasabha Ganapathi had been prohibited for several years and a controversy erupted in 2003 over this issue between the organisers and the administration. Today September 29 I had an opportunity to see the Hindu Mahasabha Ganapathi immersion procession along with my wife .

Thousands of people participated in the procession which was accompanied by various folk and cultural troupes.

Police security has been tight in the city and vehicular movement in the main streets was prohibited. With elaborate adoption of security measures by police and administration and with cooperation of all leaders the procession of Hindu Maha Sabha Ganpathi procession was held peacefully in Shimoga on Saturday.

The Hindu Mahasabha Ganapathi installed at the Bhimeswara temple in Shimoga city ,the Ganesha idol was taken in a decorated chariot after pooja in the presence of large number of devotees. It passed slowly through Gandhibazar, BH road circle, Nehru road Kuvempu road and was later immersed at Tunga River. Saffron clad youths with flags participated in the procession in large numbers.
