   I had an oppertunity to visit Tyavarekoppa with my family along with Dr GOvidaraj on 12 Jan 2013 is really memorable.Tyavarekoppa Lion and Tiger Safari is a beautiful and popular nature and wildlife destination located at a distance of 15 Km from my Home, Vidhyanagar Shimoga on Shimoga - Sagar road.

     Tyavarekoppa Lion and Tiger safari is a popular travel destination in Shimoga district. It’s a beautiful Place situated in thick jungle of Malanad. This place is unique in South India as it hosts a large number of tigers, lions, leopards, and various other wild animals.

             Tyavarekoppa Lion and Tiger Safari is an ideal picnic spot where you can see animals roaming in the deep forest without any fear. It is quite known for the blend of natural beauty and a rich mix of bird and animals including rare migratory birds, leopards, lions, tigers, deer and Sloth bears. Nature lovers would definitely love this place. The safari is spread around appro 200 hectares in the thick forest.

            At Tyavarekoppa Lion and Tiger Safari, you can actually witness to the grace, variety, color as well as wonder of nature world plus catch bracing glimpses of Tigers, Lions, Leopards, Sloth Bear, Deer, and occasional wandering birds since they wander around in luxuriant surroundings. Tyavarekoppa Lion and Tiger safari is maintained by the  forest department.  The forest department provides safari in well insulated vehicles which can go near the animals.

Route 1: Bangalore - Tumkur - Tiptur - Kadur - Arsikere - Tarikere - Shimoga – Tyavarekoppa

Route 2: Mysore - Channarayapattana - Arasikere - Kadur - Shimoga - Tyavarekoppa Lion and Tiger Safari

KSRTC and IRCTC runs services from Bangalore and Mysore to Shimoga. There are plenty of bus services from  Shimoga KSRTC and private buses are available to Sagar which go through Tyvarakoppa.
